M-TRADE (Multimodal TRAnsportation supporteD by EGNOS) addressed the introduction and deployment of EGNOS / Galileo technology and applications in the freight multimodality transport User Community.  The project was executed from 09/2005 to 04/2007, and financed by the EU FP6 programme (GSA)

M-TRADE developed an end-to-end solution using EGNOS Commercial Services for remote asset and goods tracking & tracing, demonstrated it in real-life operative scenarios and evaluated its introduction in Customs and Border Control applications.M-TRADE Demonstrator was an integrated end-to-end solution to provide users with services for:

• “In-Node” - Remote monitoring of shunting operations
• “On-Route” Dangerous Goods tracking & tracing; Tank wagons (rail) and tank vessel (river) remote localisation & visualisation on digital maps; Geo-fencing (position & time with respect to pre-defined path/time), alarming in case of deviation /unplanned stops; Warning in case of anomalous conditions detection;
• "On-Route" Perishable Goods tracking & tracing; Reefers (specialised refrigerated swap bodies) remote localisation & visualisation on digital maps; Goods temperature monitoring / identification details; Shipment monitoring: “right destination / right time”, temperature; Alarming in case of unplanned stops, goods information / temperature anomalous conditions;- Containers tracking & tracing; Container remote localisation & visualisation on digital maps; correct loading & unloading of containers.
