The project aimed at the creation of a detailed road map for the next steps of harmonised implementation of RIS in Europe. These steps were defined preliminarily on a national as well as international level. In addition budget estimations for RIS deployment were made as a basis for subsidy allocations from TEN-T as well as programmes for candidate and third countries. Via intensive consultation of all European countries, which have navigable waterways as well as countries involved in Short Sea Shipping, the following questions were evaluated:
